SO YOU DONT BELIVE IN SEA MONSTERS?According too the Octopus fact sheet,Enteroctopus dofleini is the largest species of octopus in the world. Although it is very unusual to find an individuals over 100 pounds (45 kg)
r one large individual captured just near Victoria, British Columbia in 1967 weighed 156 pounds (70 kg), and was almost 23 feet (7.5 m), from arm tip to arm tip (that could easly kill a human or medium size shark)
There are records that are referenced of a few individuals that are very creditable and made by noted experts that were more than 300 pounds (136 kg)
and one that was more than 400 (182 kg)(thats a true monster lol).

And these are just the ones we know.There is one account of what may have been a truly huge octopus in St. Augustine on nov.30 1896. & A carcuss f what looked to be (as many discribed) a giant octopus.
DeWitt Webb, founder and the president of the St. Augustine Scientific, Literary, and Historical Society, visited the carcass.
The part of the carcass that was visible at that time was 18 feet long and 7 feet wide; The carcass was basically a fibrous mass. It was a very light pink.
More importantly, Webb decided that the carcass was not a whale, but, was instead, a giant octopus.On December 7, the first photographs of the carcass were made by Edgar Van Horn and Ernest Howatt. These do not survive, but drawings based on two of them do.
;The following day, Webb wrote letters to several people trying to get someone else to investigate the carcass.Several days later, a man living in the area named Mr. Wilson, excavated around the carcass. He found what he claimed were several arms: “One arm was lying west of body, 23 feet long; one stump of arm, west of body, about 4 feet; three arms lying south of the body and from appearances attached to same (although I did not dig quite to body, as it was laid well down in the sand, and the longest one measured over 32 feet, the other arms were 3 to 5 feet shorter.”

If this was a giant octopus,it is a truely frighting creature of mythical proportion.And how more might be liveing in the deepest depts of the ocean floors.?

Big Cats iN Ireland!

  Ashleigh Wallace reported,
“the dramatic picture which provides the strongest evidence yet that another puma-like cat is on the prowl in Northern Ireland this time in the heart of the Co. Down countryside.
(However, due to lack of consistent reports it is difficult to say whether the Antrim cat was indeed the County Down cat, because, as mentioned previous, large cats have been seen around County Down for many years.)
            The cat was snapped by Doctor Brendan O’Donnell who was with his wife when he saw the animal in July 2003 near to Slieve Bearnagh in the Mourne Mountains.
The newspaper reported that the animal was, “a large, black, puma-like cat prowling in a field”, however the photograph clearly shows a dark tanned Cougar striding through the long-grass.
The animal is certainly not a domestic cat. Mr O’Donnell told the paper that, “…it was unbelievable, it was completely different to a domestic cat in the way it moved, which to me was like a hunter and the long tail was incredibly distinctive.”
   However, whilst the photo appears to stand as conclusive proof that a Puma is at large, the newspaper reported that, “this new evidence that a large black cat is roaming close to the Mourne Mountains comes as the two wild animals still at loose in north Antrim continue to evade capture”,and then to confuse issues more ,see rest of story ..  http://mysteryanimalsofireland.com

More About UK Big Cat Sightings

For those of you who dont belive that there may be a panther proweling parts of UK .InSummer 1991 a Northern Lynx (Felis Lynx) was shot near Beccles, Suffolk, after it killed about 15 sheep over a in a 2 week period.
Felicity, as she was called, was capture by farmer Ted Noble at Cannich Scotland in 1980. This followed a string of reports dating back to 1976 in the area
A lynx was captured in London after a witness reported that they had seen leopard sitting on a garden wall. The lynx was captured after being sedated by a vet with a dart and blow pipe. She was taken to London zoo and treated for a paw injury, she was given the name Lara there. (2001)
And as of late,the countryside of Aberdeenshire has had a large number of big cat sightings includeing pumas, black panthers and Fen tigers.
many of these reports come from crediable witnesses and multiple witnesses.
The questions is starting to become not if there really is big wild cats roaming the UK,but how many.

Thylacine(tasmanian tiger)

” The Tasmanian Tiger, (Thylacine)  also called the Tasmanian wolf,is my favorite cryptid,
it is a large, marsupial canine native to Tasmania.
Most scientist belive it to be extinct,however each year there are many unconfirmed sightings in remote areas of the state ,and reports of sets of Tasmanian Tiger tracks have been said to have been found.
In January of 1995,a Parks and Wildlife Service person observed a tas tiger in the Pyengana region of eastern Tasmania,   and being the most reliable sighting in some time, the goverment launched an investigation to possibly confirm the existance of the Tiger.
  The Tiger was about 5 feet long, (some are said to have been smaller)and had light brown fur with dark stripes across its lower back.
Tasmanian tigers were common toward the start of the century  but were hunted extensivley because they were said to threatened sheep but this claim was never proven.
Over 4,000 were killed by hunters between 1888 and 1909. Another reason for there disapearance was the destruction of their habitat,and the introduction of the dingo dog.
The last known Thylacine died in captivity in 1936.
There is a movement right now that may bring back the Tasmanian tiger back from exstinction.
Australian geneticists announced they had replicated bits of the tassy tigers DNA taken from a 136 year old thylacine pup preserved in ethanol.
and they could possibley use it to clone the tasmanian tiger. But at this point it is still just in a peliminary stage.

Are Thunder Birds Real?

CRYPTOZOOLOGIST  have coined the phrase “thunder birds” from the Native American folklore legands of a giant bird that the flapping of its wings would cause the sound of thunder,
Cryptozoology enthusiest use it a general term reguarding any reports of strange giant size birds or flying reptiles that get reported but does not fit a description of any modern day bird.
Here in the modern day united states there are reports of these giant sized “thunder birds” almost every year rangeing from Texas to Alaska,abd reports are also common in many other parts of the world as well.
Here in the western side of the world These sightings vary greatly; it takes on assorted vulture, eagle, and sometimes reptilian characteristics. The creatures are normally reported as being 15 to 20 feet wide in wingspan, and 4 to 8 feet tall , sometimes reported to have feathers usally dark in colour and a eagle or fulture like appearance , to some being described as bat like or prehistoric reptile like.
“The thunder bird is distinguished by its size and lifting capabilities exceeding those of any known bird living today anywhere in the world.
There is one report in 1977 of a young boy in Lawndale, Illinois on July 25, 1977 was actaully attacted and carried for 30 yards, this was said to have been witnessed by 2 other young boys
The boy the was said to have been attacted was Marlon Lowe, 10 years of age ,said that thebird grabed onto his shoulder with its claws and proceeded to him about two feet off the ground for a distance of at least 30 yards.
He escaped with minor scrathes but was terrified by the inccident, this report has never been explained.

On Wednesday October 16, 2002, in an article published in the Anchorage Daily News, and also picked up by the wire services, reported “a giant winged creature like something out of Jurassic Park” sighted several times in Southwest Alaska.
A pilot that spotted the creature while flying passengers to Manokotak, Alaska, calculated its wingspan matched the length of a wing on one side of his Cessna 207, about 14 feet.
Other people have put the wingspan in a similar range.
The Associated Press passed on much of the same story stating: “Villagers in Togiak and Manokotak say the huge bird has a wingspan of about 14-feet — the size of a small plane.” Reported as well was a sighting that occurred the previous Thursday, October 10, 2002, when a 43 year-old heavy equipment operator named Moses Coupchiak saw the bird flying toward him from about two miles away as he worked his tractor. “At first I thought it was one of those old-time Otter planes,” Coupchiak was quoted as saying. “Instead of continuing toward me, it banked to the left, and that’s when I noticed it wasn’t a plane.”
there have been many more accounts of these suposed thunder birds,but in the end no real hard evidence has ever been found.

UK BIG CAT SIGHTINGS

It seems that the U.K big cats sightings are on the rise,especaillly the sighting of suposent black panther roaming theUK..
The lastest story was that a cyclist was suprised and in fear of his life when he came face to face with what he describes a” black panther”
describes And a Mirfield man said that he saw a big black cat while out hunting .
It seems that these big cat sighting are on the increase .

In Kent (UK) the sighting of large big cats dates back several centuries right up to present days. A Ravensthorpe woman claims that she has seen a extremely large black cat digging keeps digging up her garden.                                                          
And there has been tracks found of what looks to be a extremely large cat around these areas.
At Cleckheaton,Debbie Ross,her husband and thier daughter Kersha who is 13 ,said they saw the big cat while walking thier dogs(3 large rottweilers)and it was at least as big as thier dogs.

According to another report,Top London chef “Gordon Ramsey” amazingly lost his pet lamb Charlotte this week, to a roaming leopard. The lamb, which was living on land in Hertfordshire, owned by David and Victoria Beckham, was eaten, and only its head remained.

Deloys Ape

The tale of Deloys ape recounts like this;Swiss geologist Franois Deloy was on expedition in Venezuela near the border of columbia with his team
After a dangerous and deadly journey(some of themen died during the expedition)the team made camp
Accordinng to the accounts of Deloy,they were suddenly attacked by 2 monkeys that looked a bit like spider monkeys but alot larger.Deloy said they stood about 5 feet in hieght(there are no monkeys known to be that tall)
The group defended themselves by fireing at creatures with thier guns.
They cliamed to have killed one and the other escaped back into the jungle.
They relize that this specimen of primate might be something out of the ordinary so they took some photos of the strange looking creature.
They also claimed later to have eaten the strange monkey because thier supplies were low.
so now there is nothing but a controversial photo of the creature,and the journals of Deloy himself/

The Strangest Cryptid Ever”the MothMan”

The Mothman is probabley the srangest cryptide, and in fact i belive it belongs more in the paranormal files than in the cryptozoology files.But since there were so many credible witness and the strange events thtat surounded the mothman may have been not even been related to the sightings.

The sightings and events connected to the Mothman began on November 12, 1966 near Clendenin, West Virginia. Five men were in the local cemetery that day, preparing a grave for a burial, when something that looked like a “brown human being” lifted off from some nearby trees and flew over their heads.
The men were baffled. It did not appear to be a bird, but more like a man with wings. A few days later, more sightings would take place, electrifying the entire region

in the evening of November 15, two young married couples had a very strange encounter as they drove past an abandoned TNT plant near Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
The couples spotted two large eyes that were attached to something that was “shaped like a man, but bigger, maybe six or seven feet tall.
And it had big wings folded against its back”. When the creature moved toward the plant door, the couples panicked and sped away.
Moments later, they saw the same creature on a hillside near the road.
It spread its wings and rose into the air, following with their car, which by now was traveling at over 100 miles per hour.
“That bird kept right up with us,” said one of the group. They told Deputy Sheriff Millard Halstead that it followed them down Highway 62 and right to the Point Pleasant city limits.
And they would not be the only ones to report the creature that night. Another group of four witnesses claimed to see the “bird” three different times!

Another sighting had more bizarre results. At about 10:30 on that same evening, Newell Partridge, a local building contractor who lived in Salem (about 90 miles from Point Pleasant), was watching television when the screen suddenly went dark.
He stated that a weird pattern filled the screen and then he heard a loud, whining sounds from outside that raised in pitch and then ceased. “It sounded like a generator winding up” he later stated.
Partridge’s dog, Bandit, began to howl out on the front porch and Newell went out to see what was going on.
When he walked outside, he saw Bandit facing the hay barn, about 150 yards from the house.
Puzzled, Partridge turned a flashlight in that direction and spotted two red circles that looked like eyes or “bicycle reflectors”.
They moving red orbs were certainly not animal’s eyes, he believed, and the sight of them frightened him.
Bandit, an experienced hunting dog and protective of his territory, shot off across the yard in pursuit of the glowing eyes. Partridge called for him to stop, but the animal paid no attention.
His owner turned and went back into the house for his gun, but then was too scared to go back outside again.
He slept that night with his gun propped up next to the bed. The next morning, he realized that Bandit had disappearedbr> The dog had still not shown up two days later when Partridge read in the newspaper about the sightings in Point Pleasant that night.
One statement that he read in the newspaper chilled him to the bone. Roger Scarberry, one member of the group who spotted the strange “bird” at the TNT plant, said that as they entered the city limits of Point Pleasant, they saw the body of a large dog lying on the side of the road. A few minutes later, on the way back out of town, the dog was gone.
They even stopped to look for the body, knowing they had passed it just a few minutes before. Newell Partridge immediately thought of Bandit, who was never seen again

The Mothmans seem to be useing the TNT plant as his lair.And this be a perfect place because it was in a remote area with lots of woods around it.the TNT plant also had many caves and tunnels all over the area.
One November 16, TheThomas family spotted a “funny red light” in the sky that moved and hovered above the TNT plant.
“It wasn’t an airplane”, Mrs. Marcella Bennett (a friend of the Thomas family) said, “but we couldn’t figure out what it was.”
Mrs. Bennett drove to the Thomas house a few minutes later and got out of the car with her baby.
Suddenly, a figure stirred near the automobile. “It seemed as though it had been lying down,” she later recalled. “It rose up slowly from the ground. A big gray thing. Bigger than a man with terrible glowing eyes
Mrs. Bennett was so horrified that she dropped her little girl! She quickly recovered, picked up her child and ran to the house. The family locked everyone inside but hysteria gripped them as the creature shuffled onto the porch and peered into the windows. The police were summoned, but the Mothman had vanished by the time the authorities had arrived.

Mrs. Bennett would not recover from the incident for months and was in fact so distraught that she sought medical attention to deal with her anxieties
. She was tormented by frightening dreams and later told investigators that she believed the creature had visited her own home too. She said that she could often hear a keening sounds (like a woman screaming) near her isolated home on the edge of Point Pleasant
author John Keel, who has written extensively about Mothman and other unexplained anomalies became the major chronicler of the Mothman case and wrote that at least 100 people personally witnessed the creature between November 1966 and November 1967.
John Keel arrived in Point Pleasant in December 1966 and immediately began collecting reports of Mothman sightings and even UFO reports from before the creature was seen.
He also compiled evidence that suggested a problem with televisions and phones that began in the fall of 1966. Lights had been seen in the skies, particularly around the TNT plant, and cars that passed along the nearby road sometimes stalled without explanation.
The strangest thing the some people connect to the mothman sighting is on December 15, 1967, the 700-foot bridge linking Point Pleasant to Ohio suddenly collapsed while filled with rush hour traffic.
Dozens of vehicles plunged into the dark waters of the Ohio River and 46 people were killed. Two of those were never found and the other 44 are buried together in the town cemetery of Gallipolis, Ohio
WAS the Mothman responsible? or was it just a tragic coincedence ?

On The Trail Of A Unknown Chimp!

This curious story began over a century ago, when, in 1898, a Belgian army officer returned home from what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo with some gorilla skulls he had obtained near the village of Bili, on the Uele River in northern Congo’s Bondo area .
though no other gorillas had been found within hundreds of miles of Bili before (or since). He donated them to Belgium’s Congo Museum in Tervueren, where in due course they were examined by its curator, Henri Schouteden.
He was suprised by the differences these skulls were from other gorilla skulls as well as by their unique provenance (roughly halfway between the extreme edges of the western and eastern distribution of any gorilla populations) to classify them as a new subspecies of gorilla, which he dubbed Gorilla gorilla uellensis.
In 1996, when a Kenyanbased conservationist and wildlife photographer by the name of Karl Ammann set out on the first of many quests to discover this mysterious primate.
he did in fact find some compelling evidence.
Leading several other investigators to launched their own searches for the elusive ape.
there now has been vidoe footage of what looks like a very large chimp,and photos of a dead one and the estimated hieght is around 5 and a half feet tall.and the discovery of enormous footprints, some measuring almost l4in (36cm) long also suport the claim that there is a new primate out there.
Ground nests that are to have been built by the bili ape have also been found.and ts have been shown to contain mitochondrial DNA similar to that of regular chimps
.The Bili ape continues to haunt the Congo’s Bondo rainforests
, but hopefully just as the giant panda was consider just a myth and later proven to be a realality,the bili ape will be too

New Creatures Discovered

Many skeptics of the idea that there may still be large unknown creatures that have gone undiscovered tend to over look the fact that there have been many discoveries of unknown large creatures that were either not known to exist or thought to have long went exstinct,
Architeuthis (giant squid)was thought a myth and fable until recent times.
But serveral have washed ashore and also found in the stomachs of whales.
The largest known specimen to have been recorded washed ashore on a New Zealand beach on the winter of 1887.
it measured 55 feet 2 inches in total length
Another interesting find was the megamouth shark.The Megamouth Shark grows to at least 5.15 m and wasnt known to exist until one was caught and collected off Kaneohe, Hawaii on 15 November 1976.
There was a great discovery of a never befor known breed of ox was found in theVietnam tropical forest discovered in May 1992.
and this animal is not small (SIZE Shoulder height 80 to 90cm. Body length about 150cm. WEIGHT Weight 100kg) but yet went undetected until 1992.
so who is to say what else may be out there waiting to be discovered or rediscovered!
